As a holistic practitioner the thing that disturbs me the most from clients I see is that we don't realise that 60% of lower back pain is caused by our arms being locked....we are all arm workers, our legs are to get us around. We tend to our cars and tools for fairly regular servicing or when the car or tools break down we attend to them, it is easier to instal and get parts for these things than it is to instal and get human parts...We mostly do nothing for ourselves till we get to a point we have to attend a physician due to our suffering...pain. I see time and time again frozen shoulders, lower back pain, carpal tunnel, and the list just goes on. The longer the body remains locked (muscles, tendons and ligaments) it then starts on the skeleton and at times the organs, it sometimes creates a need for shoulder, hip and knee replacements, scar adhesion at times causing the removal of organs.
Women clients who have either had a cesarean (or several), or tubal ligation, or gall bladder removal...all have been cut surgically through the layers of the body, most suffer later on in life from scar adhesion as a lot of women have no feeling around their lower half of their body. This doesn't mean this happens to everyone, I'm not sure why some people are more susceptible to scar adhesion than others.
The surgery I see the least problematic is key hole surgery, it is much less invasive and doesn't appear to cause sever scar adhesion's as with open cut surgery.
I recently asked the son of an elderly client whom I hadn't seen for ages how his father was and his answer was that he hadn't been feeling well for about twelve months and finally ended up in hospital and had to have a metre of bowel removed due to scar adhesion from a forty year old appendix scar which ended up strangling the part of his bowel that had to be removed.
I watched my mother struggle until her death from scar adhesion, she was constantly on antibiotics, this all occurred from a prolapse surgery which was performed through the virgina and the bowel was apparently pierced as I found out later from a young surgeon after he went in with a camera and confirmed my suspicions, her organs had amassed and he had to surgically cut apart all her organs, as he later informed me. My mother had been in severe pain for twelve months before the discovery of her organ problems.
I'm often asked how can lower back pain come from your arms?
The interesting thing is that the arms are part of the whole body, the song the knee bone is connected to the thigh bone, the thigh bone is connected to the...is very appropriate as one thing leads to the other. When the arms and lower back issue's are not dealt with by realigning firstly the upper back and arms it can go to the shoulder joints, stomach, hip joints, knees and even the ankles.
We all work hard and at times play hard as well, I believe that it is time that we become more responsible for our own health by asking questions of those in the know and at least attending to our physical bodies with maintenance...like maintaining our vehicles or tools before the wheels have a chance to fall off, as the saying goes.
